Set just off Upper St, on the former site of Almeida, Radici serves dishes inspired by Chef Patron of Sartoria, Francesco Mazzei’s Southern-Italian heritage (radici is italian for roots… get it?) The wonderful Antonio Mazzone will be running the kitchen at Radici, and as he has been Francesco’s right-hand man for 10 years.
Radici is Italian for roots, and this relaxed Southern Italian trattoria represents just that for Chef Patron Francesco Mazzei. The food is a tribute to his Calabrian heritage, whilst its Islington location is a nod to his children’s upbringing in the area he has made his London home.
The food is rustic, authentic and made with the very best ingredients, with wonderful Italian wines and cocktails served alongside. The interior has a similar feel, where acclaimed designer David d’Almada has used natural materials to create a light, bright and welcoming space.
Radici, Islington’s new Southern Italian trattoria, sees Sartoria’s legendary Chef Patron Francesco Mazzei serving up pizza, pasta and rustic dishes inspired by his Calabrian upbringing.
